We also take advantage of San Diegos unique surroundings. The community of San Diego plays a unique and vital role in the Institute's training programs. Both Pacific coastline beaches and inland wild areas like the Anza Borrego desert offer classrooms without walls to the Institute students.

At an average temperature of 72° F, San Diego is a quintessentially outdoor city, and there are many opportunities to engage the landscape through art. There are also plenty of options for outdoor recreation: visit the world-famous Balboa Park; stroll along the beach at Torrey Pines; roller-blade along the harbor or kayak with the dolphins, all minutes from campus

In addition, San Diego offers a lively arts community with music, art, poetry and a strong independent theater enclave. These venues are used as resources for Institute students, who have opportunities to see performances by cutting-edge artists and established masters.
